In her review of The Armory Show for the Observer Farah Abdessamad praises Fast Ponies: Past and Present for showcasing ‘Native American and First Nations pride in carefully curated inkjet print and LED artworks.’ The exhibition places historical Plains pictographic drawings in dialogue with photographs by Dana Claxton (b. 1959). The Lakota artist ‘documents traditions and modernity in masculine portraits against a viridian green cinematic background that embody an aesthetic scenography of remembrance and celebration,’ Abdessamad writes.
