Wooden tool boxes such as this were among a man’s most prized possessions. Great care was taken in their construction, and they were often fitted with beautifully carved handles and latches. These boxes are marvels of engineering, fashioned by steaming, bending, mortising and stitching the various parts together to produce a work of beauty, as well as utility.
